Finance ministers of Germany, France, Italy, and Spain urged member states on Wednesday (28 April) to submit their recovery plans and pressed the European Commission to speed up the assessment of the investment and reform proposals. 

The significance of extending the fiscal flexibility given to European Union member-states so they have the space to help their economies recover was highlighted by Bruno Le Maire in an interview with the EU correspondents of several European top newspapers, including Kathimerini.

G-7 finance ministers in the euro area will hold a conference call Wednesday to "coordinate their responses" to the impact of the coronavirus on the global economy, said French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire.

"We will have that meeting by phone—because you need to avoid travelling too much - for the G7 to coordinate its response," Le Maire told France 2 television.

On a visit to Athens Friday, French Economy and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire met with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Finance Minister Christos Staikouras to discuss the future of the eurozone and the reinforcement of bilateral economic relations, as he himself noted in his Twitter account.
Le Maire described the talks as "very good" and "very constructive."

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis welcomed French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire to the Maximos Mansion in Athens on Friday for talks that focused on bilateral relations between the two allies, but also on European matters.

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire will be in the Greek capital on Monday (July 30) in a visit aimed at strengthening bilateral trade relations.

During his visit, Le Maire will hold a meeting with the heads of Greek and French businesses at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry at 5.15 p.m.
