Proposal to urgently debate Gojkovic's dismissal rejected
The Serbian National Assembly has rejected a proposal to debate by urgent procedure a motion to dismiss Assembly Preident Maja Gojkovic.
The proposal, originally tabled by 32 members of the assembly, was backed by only 13 in a vote, Tanjug reported on Friday.
Serbian National Assembly to resume work next Friday
Serbian National Assembly President Maja Gojkovic has called the second sitting of the first regular session of the Assembly for Friday, April 21.
The Assembly announced this in a statement on Tuesday, Tanjug has reported.
Anti-Vucic Protests Continue

Thousands of Serbs have taken to the streets of Belgrade for a third straight night to protest the April 2 election of Aleksandar Vucic as president. The crowds of mostly students blew whistles outside the Serbian parliament building on April 5 and accused Vucic of stealing the election.

Gojkovic calls elections for five local assemblies
BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic on Monday called elections for the city assembly of Zajecar and the municipal assemblies of Vrbas, Odzaci, Kovin and Kosjeric for April 23.

Presidential elections to be called on Thursday
Serbian National Assembly President Maja Gojkovic announced on Wednesday she would call presidential election on Thursday, at 13:00 CET.
Gojkovic explained that she would then also announce when the voting would take place.

Opposition angry over Assembly's brief first sitting
Serbian National Assembly President Maja Gojkovic has announced a break in Wednesday's first sitting of the spring session shortly after it began.
After the sitting's agenda was determined, Gojkovic said she needed to attend urgent consultations in the government, with heads of the ruling coalition, at their request.

Czechs "back Serbia's EU bid, and opening more chapters"
The Czech Republic "supports Serbia on its EU path and can help it open new negotiation chapters by end-year."
That is what Serbian National Assembly President Maja Gojkovic and the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Jan Hamacek said on Wednesday, according to Tanjug.
Speaker: Serbia remains committed to full EU membership
Serbian National Assembly President Maja Gojkovic on Tuesday met with Michael Roth, Minister of State for Europe at Germany's Federal Foreign Office.
She "noted that Serbia remains committed to full EU membership," the Assembly said in a statement quoted by Tanjug.
Parliament elects six deputy speakers
BELGRADE - The Serbian parliament has elected six of seven deputy speakers as Jasmina Nikolic, put forward by the Enough is Enough movement, received no support from MPs.
