Insects and Vegetables | Athens | November 15

The environmental NGO Astiki Melissa and producers and consumers' community Mpostani are set to present an informative talk about the value of insects in the production and variety of vegetables and which produce would disappear if insects were to go extinct. The event will take place at the Kypseli Municipal Market (agorakypselis.gr) between 3 and 5 p.m. with free admission.

 

More multinationals come under scrutiny

Another five multinational groups whose consumer goods are sold in the Greek market are under scrutiny by the Interagency for Market Control (DIMEA), in order to determine whether they have violated laws against unfair profits.

This was confirmed by Development and Investment Minister Kostas Skrekas at the Parliament's Production and Trade Committee on Friday.

An ancient profession, antique dealing

Opened in İzmir's historical Kemeraltı Bazaar, the Antique Dealers Bazaar brings its visitors on a journey through time. Erkan Sert is one of the dealers at the bazaar who has been selling antique and collectible nostalgic products in his shop for 25 years.

Sert, who finds the antique objects sometimes by chance and sometimes by chasing them, displays the rarest pieces in his shop.

Fish market reopens in quake-hit city

The fish market in the southern province of Hatay's İskenderun district, which faced massive destruction in the deadly Feb. 6 quakes, has reopened its stalls with the completion of renovation works.

The fish market in the district's center was mostly destroyed in the twin earthquake that jolted the country's southern provinces in early February.

Kindergarten students open bazaar to help quake survivor children

Students of a kindergarten in the southern province of Antalya have established a mini open-air market and donated the income of the sales to quake survivor students.

Established in the kindergarten's garden, the mini open-air market sold food prepared by the students' families and had stalls of vegetables and fruits collected from their parents' greenhouses and gardens.
