France: Strasbourg Christmas market opens amid heightened security over terrorism fears

The renowned Strasbourg Christmas market, located in eastern France, opened its doors today, offering warm mulled wine, pretzels, and over 300 stalls. As usual, the market expects a large influx of visitors, but security concerns remain high.

Fines issued for counterfeit products on Rhodes

Market inspectors on Rhodes have issued fines worth 226,000 euros to two people for trading in counterfeit products.

As a result of the inspections, which took place last week, over 29,000 fake products were identified and subsequently destroyed.

A photo issued by the Interagency Market Control Unit (DIMEA) suggests that the fake products included games and toys.

Incentives for returning

It's been 15 years since Greece declared bankruptcy and the outflow of skilled labor that this triggered is still an open wound, as thousands of Greeks who got the tools they needed to compete in demanding markets abroad from the public education system left.
