Landlords find homeless man living upstairs in duplex house
In an incident reminiscent of the Oscar-winning movie Parasite, a Turkmenistan citizen named Jumamyrat Jumalyev has been found living on the upper floor of a duplex house in Istanbul's Mecidiyeköy district for a while.

Historic cistern in Taksim Square to be renovated
Renovation work has begun for a nearly 300-year-old cistern in Taksim Square in the heart of Istanbul.
The cistern, also known as "the Maksem," was revamped in 2008 and served as the Taksim Republic Art Gallery for years. It has been a favorite spot for visiting tourists for taking pictures.

Historical artifacts found in Kabataş
Works at the Kabataş metro station have unearthed archaeological remains in the area. Archaeologist Mehmet Ali Polat said that they will highly likely find a small ancient harbor as works progress.

Court finds no responsible party in deadly Istanbul elevator accident case
The responsible party has not been determined by the court in the case into an elevator crash in September 2014, in which 10 workers were killed in central Istanbul, in the first hearing of the case on Oct. 27, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Police units in Istanbul stepped up their security measures in Istanbul's central Taksim Square on April 10 following a sound bomb explosion in the city's Mecidiyeköy neighborhood, while the United States warned of "credible threats" of a possible attack targeting tourist areas in the metropolis.
Three injured in sound bomb explosion in Istanbul
Three people were injured on April 9 when a sound bomb exploded in Istanbul's busy Mecidiyeköy neighborhood.
The bomb, which was placed under an overpass near the Mecidiyeköy metrobus station, exploded at around 8:45 p.m. Three people were slightly injured in the explosion and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Key road to be closed for over one year in Istanbul's busy Mecidiyeköy
A key road in the central Mecidiyeköy neighborhood of Istanbul will be closed starting from March 5 as part of metro construction work in the area, which is expected to last 410 days and add even more traffic to the already busy spot.
Istanbul to build cable car across Bosphorus
