South Korea's health minister warned of a threat to the lives of patients on Tuesday after medical professors said they might join striking junior doctors engaged in a three-week-long standoff that has plunged healthcare into chaos.

There are fewer young doctors are in our country. More than half of the medics in Bulgaria are over 55 years old, bTV reports.

The working doctors in Bulgaria are about 28 thousand. Only 3,200 of them are under the age of 35, and more than 20% are medics over 60 years of age. There are also some in their 70s and 80s, and we continue to count on on them, adds bTV.

Doctors went on a nationwide strike for one day on June 1, as the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) announced late last week it was calling all its member doctors to go on a strike to protest the killing of Kamil Furtun, a thoracic surgeon who was shot dead while on duty on May 29 in a public hospital in the Black Sea province of Samsun.
