NATO appoints Turkish academic to key position
A Turkish academic has been appointed to a top position at NATO, becoming the first woman and youngest scientist ever to hold such a position.
Professor Melike Nikbay, a mechanical and aerospace engineer from the Istanbul Technical University, has been appointed as the head of the NATO Mechanical Systems, Structures and Materials Technical Committee.

Tüpraş, OMV Petrol Ofisi and Turkish Airlines have been named Turkey's largest companies by a leading economy and business magazine.
The results of the Top 500 Private Company Survey of Turkey, organized by Capital Magazine in Vodafone's main sponsorship, were announced in a ceremony held in Istanbul late on Dec. 14, Anadolu Agency reported.
Reception held for Turkish films in Venice
A reception was held on Sept. 6 in Venice for three Turkish films screening at the 72nd Venice Film Festival. Under the auspices of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry, the reception took place at a hotel on San Clemente Island.
This year, young Turkish director Emin Alper's "Abluka" (Frenzy), is among the 21 films competing for the Golden Lion.
