Conservative opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis welcomed on Monday a bipartisan bill introduced by US Senators Robert Menendez and Marco Rubio that would alter US strategy in the Eastern Mediterranean, during a meeting with Menendez in Athens.

The American Jewish Committee (AJC) and the Hellenic American Leadership Council (HALC) are urging U.S. Senators, in a joint letter, to cosponsor the Eastern Mediterranean Security and Partnership Act introduced by Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Marco Rubio (R-FL).

The full text of the letter, sent to Senators Friday, follows:

Dear Senator,

U.S. President Donald Trump is under fire from veteran Democrats in the Senate for his "disgusting" and "shameful" remarks on Democrat Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.     

U.S. Senator Martha McSally, the first female combat pilot in the U.S. Air Force, said on March 6 she had been raped by a superior officer but did not report it because she blamed herself and did not trust the system.

After U.S. Rep. Mike Bilirakis, now Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), the top Democrat at the Senate's  Committee on Foreign Relations, has sent Greek PM Alexis Tsipras a letter urging him to recognize Juan Guaido as the Interim President of Venezuela.
