The Serbian Hydrometeorological Institute issued an 'orange' weather alert on Monday, warning people to be prepared for severe weather and heavy rains that could cause flooding in the eastern and south-western parts of the country.

The Institute warned that the water levels of several rivers in these regions might increase on Monday and Tuesday, possibly causing localised flooding.

After a night of steady rain and thunderstorms across Bulgaria, the weather is expected to remain cloudy and with high probability of precipitations.

Rain, thunderstorms and hail are projected for today's May 24, according to the official data presented by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

A day of heavy rain and hail hit the eastern part of the Aegean province of İzmir

Code yellow has been issued in five southern regions of Bulgaria on account of the imminent prolific rains and expected thunderstorms. 

The warning is valid for the municipalities of Smolyan, Kardzhali and Haskovo as stated by the National Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology. The amounts of rain expected there will be between 15 and 35 liters per square meter. 

A massive whirlwind appeared in the Elmal? district of Turkey's southwestern coastal city of Antalya on May 10 afternoon, causing panic among the local populace. Heavy rain and hail followed the whirlwind, damaging agricultural produce. 

Following sunny days and beach weather, a worsening of weather conditions is expected in Greece on Monday and Tuesday. The National Meteorological Service predicts rains, showers, thunderstorms even sleet and heavy winds.

April 8, a date typically reserved for Spring weather in Greece, suddenly turned cold on Holy Wednesday with snow in mountain region. The Buffy camp at Mount Parnitha, north of Athens, has been covered with layers of snow after it started to snow at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Cloudiness over Bulgaria will remain significant and there will be several regions across the country that will experience light rain and snow.

Meanwhile, winds across Eastern Bulgaria will diminish to moderate levels from the north-west, as announced by the National Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology.
