Weather on Sunday: Heavy rainfall and snow
Sunday will have heavy rainfall, snow and northerly winds and a sharp drop in temperatures from the afternoon. Wind velocity will reach 9 on the Beaufort scale. The norther parts of the country will experience stormy weather and possibly snow, with temperatures ranging from 2C-10C. The same is expected in the western parts with temperatures between 5C-13C.

Snow on the way as temperatures set to fall
Weather conditions are set to deteriorate this week with the National Meteorological Service (EMY) forecasting strong winds, snowfall and storms, across much of the country.
Temperatures are set to plunge by up to 10 degrees Celsius early in the week with the cold snap expected to continue at least through Tuesday.

Weather on Thursday: Fair with a few scattered clouds
Weather is expected to improve on Thursday, with slightly higher temperatures and mostly southeasterly winds. Wind velocity will reach 7 on the Beaufort scale.
Scattered clouds are forecast in the northern regions of the country with temperatures ranging from 04C-14C.
Weather will be mostly fair in western Greece with temperatures between 08C-17C.
EMY forecasts new wave of bad weather, islands to face more snow
Following a few days of relatively fair weather, the National Meteorological Service (EMY) on Monday issued an emergency bulletin, heralding a new cold snap with heavy rain, storms and snow forecast across much of the country.
Strong winds cause problems in Thessaloniki
Strong winds caused problems in Thessaloniki on Monday morning.
Road signs and scaffolding was blown onto a section of the city?s ring road, forcing it to be shut down.
A number of trees were blown over in various parts of the city, forcing the fire service to help clear roads and sidewalks.

ANM: Blizzard, glaze and snowfalls starting Friday morning all over the country
The National Meteorology Administration [ANM] on Thursday issued a new warning of blizzard, snowfalls and glaze, valid throughout the country starting Friday morning.

According to meteorologists, between January 9, 10 am, local time, and January 10, 2 pm, there will be snowfalls, locally abundant, in all mountain areas.
Cold weather persists
Heavy snowfall in various parts of the country, including Attica, Evia, Crete and the Cycladic islands, was expected to continue through Wednesday.
Strong winds reaching 6 to 8 Beaufort were expected in the Aegean Sea while icy conditions were set to hamper travel with several roads being closed to traffic.

‘Siberian winter’ forecast as weather warning issued for western Turkey
It might be the perfect time to take out the woolen clothes, snow boots and thick winter coats as Turkey is bracing for blizzards and freezing temperatures, according to meteorologists.
A new cold wave from the Balkans and Black Sea will hit Turkey starting on Jan. 5, meteorologists have said, and icy conditions will prevail in the western parts of the country.

Heavy rain causes flooding in Hania
The fire service had to rescue at least 35 people in Hania on the northern coast of Crete, on Thursday after heavy rain, which caused flash floods.
Some homes lost electricity, while the traffic police was forced to close a number of roads, including sections of the national highway because of the dangerous conditions.
