Nine universities in Türkiye have made it to the top 500 in global university rankings, Middle East Technical University (METU) University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) Laboratory's 2022 report has shown.

Turkish journalist receives Spanish Order of Merit
Journalist, academic and columnist Professor L. Doğan Tılıç has been honored by Spanish authorities with a Civil Order of Merit for his successful career as a member of the press.
Tılıç received the Civil Order of Merit on June 15 from Spain's ambassador to Turkey, Javier Hergueta Garnica, at the embassy in Ankara.

Thousands tune in for jazz festival
Over 60,000 people from various countries watched the Ankara Jazz Festival, dubbed as the world's first online festival, according to organizers on May 11.
In a statement, the Ankara-based Jazz Society of Turkey said that the 24th Ankara Jazz Festival was streamed on their YouTube channel between April 30 and May 9.

George Dalars to perform in Ankara
The Greek Embassy in Ankara in collaboration with the Middle East Technical University (METU) is organizing a concert by George Dalaras as part of the annual cultural festival held at the university.
On March 25, Dalaras, with his band and Ms. Aspasia Stratigou will first perform songs by Greek composers.

Hititology workshop at METU
As part of the 50th anniversary of the Middle East Technical University (METU) Alumni Association, a workshop titled "Hititology in the 100th Year of the Hittite Language" will be held on Dec. 20 at the university's Vi?nelik campus between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
