Gorbachev: West has accepted Crimea as part of Russia

MOSCOW -- Former leader of the USSR and Nobel Peace Prize winner Mikhail Gorbachev says he believes the West has accepted the decision of Crimeans to join Russia.

British Prime Minister David Cameron condemned the illegal intervention of Russia in the Ukrainian crisis at the Lord Mayor's banquet, held on Monday.

Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has warned that tensions between Russia and the West over the Ukraine crisis have put the world "on the brink of a new Cold War."
