Milli Fire

A forest fire broke out on Mount Athos on Wednesday.

The fire service has dispatched 45 firefighters, two ground teams and eleven vehicles. Two helicopters are also assisting in the operation.

For the third consecutive day, firefighters are battling the massive blaze near Athens, with the assistance of teams from six countries helping to bring the fire under control. Despite this progress, efforts continue to combat smaller outbreaks in the suburbs. The fire has already consumed more than 100,000 acres of forest and low vegetation, according to Reuters.

A fire was reported on Wednesday afternoon near the town of Marathon in eastern Attica. The Hellenic Fire responded to the blaze in the shrubland with 45 firefighters, 13 vehicles and two helicopters.

The fire is near some isolated homes but none of them are currently at risk.

Air pollution test results from the fire that broke out at the Montana municipal waste landfill are expected to be ready.

Crews from the fire department continue to fight the fire, but the disaster has been contained. A black cloud of smoke rose from the burning debris.
