Speaking on German TV, Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis said that the Greek government is doing everything in its power to make sure that the country's creditors get their money back and that pensions will be paid on time this month.

Greece is set to make its next repayment to the International Monetary Fund Monday, further depleting cash reserves that risk running out this month unless a deal is reached with European partners.

Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis spoke with ARD presenter Günther Jauch and addressed a number of issues concerning Greek debt. During the interview he also addressed a recent video that appears to show Varoufakis sticking his middle finger to hypothetical German officials during a speech he made in Zagreb in 2013, just two years he became Greek finance minister.

Greece's maverick Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis said on Sunday he regretted a celebrity shoot for Paris Match that drew widespread ridicule on social media.

"I wish that shoot had not taken place, I regret it," he told Alpha TV, adding that he did "not agree with the aesthetic" of the pictures.
