Wanted: 200,000 New Democracy voters to choose a liberal party leader!
There is a waning interest in the voting process for the head of the main opposition New Democracy party set to take place on November 22.
885 voting centers have been set up in Greece and abroad with 1,284 polling booths in Greece and 44 abroad, however it is expected that few people will show up to vote for a party leader from the four candidates:
New Democracy party quandary over the leadership election process
Conservative New Democracy interim leader Evangelos Meimarakis stormed into the party’s 1st floor headquarters at Syngrou Avenue during the party’s central election committee (KEFE) meeting. He sought out his representative, Theodore Abatzoglou, and said, “Let’s go Theodore! We aren’t going to participate in a procedure that humiliates the party.”
Conservative ND party to elect its leader on November 22
Greece’s main opposition New Democracy (ND) party is set to elect its new leader on November 22, the party’s central election committee announced on Thursday.
If a second round of vote is needed, it will be held the following Sunday, on November 29.
ND’s election committee to reconsider Georgiadis’s candidacy for party leadership
The election committee of New Democracy will reconvene at 09.30 on Saturday to decide on whether to accept the rejected fourth candidacy of New Democracy MP Adonis Georgiadis, after disapproving comments from all three candidates and the former ND leader Antonis Samaras.

The main opposition New Democracy party’s interim president Vangelis Meimarakis on Thursday officially announced his bid for the party’s leadership in the upcoming internal elections.

Evangelos Meimarakis will join the candidacy race for New Democracy leadership by announcing his participation today at 18.30 Ledra Marriott hotel.
According to information, Mr. Meimarakis will present the list of the members who signed in favor of his candidacy.
Georgiadis joins fray in ND leadership race
Outspoken conservative New Democracy deputy and former minister Adonis Georgiadis is the third contender for the party’s helm, announcing his candidacy on Monday evening.
Georgiadis is a relative newcomer to ND, arriving from the rightist-populist LA.OS party before it collapsed in the 2012 election. He represents the right-wing of the party.

A. Tzitzikostas bids for ND leadership, lowering the party’s age bar
Central Macedonian Region Chief Apostolos Tzitzikostas, aged 37, announced his candidacy for the leadership of the New Democracy (ND) Party on Sunday night. The young man’s bid for the leadership, following that of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, aged 47, lowers the age bar for the party’s control from current leader Evangelos Meimarakis, aged 62.
ND leadership race is on, but where are the candidates?
