Hotline set up for people missing in eastern Attica fire as toll climbs
The Greek Fire Service on Tuesday urged people with missing relatives of friends in the deadly eastern Attica fires to call the 199 hotline to provide rescuers with their names and descriptions.
New fire breaks out northeast of Athens
As the capital's firefighting force was doing battle with a large wildfire in Kineta, west of Athens, a separate blaze broke out on Mount Penteli in the northeast on Monday afternoon.

White New Year’s Eve in Greece (pics+vid)
Winter has finally come in Greece and locals saw the first snowflakes, whereas in some regions of Greece snow covered the streets and houses.
It’s snowing mainly in North and Central Greece, but also in Attica, especially at northern suburbs, in Pendeli and Parnitha area.

Luxury Pentelikon Hotel in northern Athens closes down
Guests and staff at the Pentelikon Hotel in northern Athens were informed this morning that it was closing down due to financial problems.
Visitors were advised to find alternative accommodation, while employees were told they would not be needed after noon.
