Fire near Marathon
A fire was reported on Wednesday afternoon near the town of Marathon in eastern Attica. The Hellenic Fire responded to the blaze in the shrubland with 45 firefighters, 13 vehicles and two helicopters.
The fire is near some isolated homes but none of them are currently at risk.

Large wildfire breaks out in central Greece
A large wildfire broke out in a forested area northeast of the city of Larissa, in central Greece, the Fire Service said on Monday.
The blaze is located near the village of Kypselohori.
Units of the Fire Service are on their way while it has also requested the assistance of aerial means to limit the spread of the fire.

Plan unveiled for regeneration of burned forest areas in Mount Penteli
Authorities on Friday presented a plan for the restoration and recovery of forest areas on Mount Penteli that were devastated by a wildfire in July 2022. The plan was unveiled by Deputy Minister of Environment George Amyras and Mayor of Penteli Dimitra Kechagia at the local municipality.
Wildlife hospital to be set up on Mount Penteli
Greece's first wildlife care hospital is being created by the Environment Ministry at Rapentosa on Mount Penteli in Attica.
A 4.2-hectare area with terraces and water supply infrastructure and a stone building, owned by the Forestry Department of Penteli, is being renovated to house the care center.

Greek authorities warn of high fire risk
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection has warned of a very high risk of wildfires Friday due to the combination of dry conditions and strong winds.
The agency highlighted a Category 4 risk for Attica, the northern Aegean, the Peloponnese and mainland Greece.

Fire breaks out north of Athens
About 33 firefighters assisted by 15 fire engines, four water-dropping aircraft and two helicopters were on Friday trying to contain a wildfire on Mount Penteli, north of the Greek capital.
No more information was immediately available about the blaze which erupted near a residential neighborhood.
