Turkish government ministers have blasted a French proposal to remove some verses from the Quran.

Fragments of what could be the oldest version of the Quran in existence have been found by researchers from the University of Birmingham after they lay unrecognized in a library for a 100 years. Scientists say that the fragments, written on sheep or goat skin are at least 1,370 years old.
