South Stream Pipeline To Reach Bulgaria in End 2015

The South Stream pipeline will reach Bulgaria's coast in December 2015, said   Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller, quoted by ITAR-TASS. 

The first gas deliveries for Bulgaria, according to him, are also expected then. 

“There is no doubt that South Stream everywhere gained the status of a priority national project,” Miller told the Rossiya 1 Russian national channel. 

Gazprom, OMV Sign MoU on Austrian Section of South Stream Gas Pipeline

Russian Gazprom and Austrian OMV signed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding to build the Austrian section of the South Stream gas pipeline.

The Memorandum was inked at the headquarters of OAO Gazprom at a working meeting between the Chairman of the Management Committee Alexey Miller and the OMV Chairman of the Executive Board, CEO Gerhard Roiss.

South Stream construction in Bulgaria and Serbia in summer

BELGRADE - The construction of the South Stream pipeline will be realised strictly according to the plans, the Gazprom Information Department stated.

The main part of the pipeline construction in the territory of Bulgaria and Serbia will begin in summer 2014, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller said as reported by the Voice of Russia.

EU Does Not Consider South Stream Priority – Official

South Stream gas pipeline is not considered priority for the EU, press secretary of the EU Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger, Sabine Berger, said on Saturday.

“As for organization of negotiations on South Stream, over discussing the project we, surely, should consider the general context of the relations between Russia and the EU,” she told Itar-Tass.

South Stream-Bulgaria: Work on Local Pipeline Section Continues

The South Stream-Bulgaria company has assured that work on the local section of the gas pipeline project continues.

The comments of the South Stream-Bulgaria company, as cited by ITAR-TASS, came after the announcement of the European Parliament that the project should not be implemented.

EU Doubts About South Stream Alarm Serbia

Aleksandar Vucic, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister, said that Serbia was preserving vital national interests with regard to the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline in cooperation with Russia.

"Serbia will protect its interests, but we are not the major player and we do not get to decide on the most important issues," Vucic said on Wednesday.

Key South Stream Shareholder Doubts Its Future

The future of the South Stream pipeline is unclear and probably it will not be realized soon, said the head of the Italian company Eni, Paolo Scaroni. 

Eni is one of the key shareholders in the project and holds 20% of its shares. Eni is the largest Italian gas company and the main distributor of gas from Russia's Gazprom in Italy.
