More than 200 historical artifacts seized in northwest Turkey

A total of 209 pieces of historical artifacts were seized in an operation in northwestern Turkey, security sources said on Feb. 28.

Provincial gendarmerie forces in Kocaeli, acting on a tip, launched an operation and detained a suspect in Eskihisar district, identified only by the initials O.O.

Nearly 1,924 liters of bootleg alcohol seized in Turkey

Nearly 1,924 liters of bootleg alcohol was seized by police on Dec. 24, according to security sources.

In Çanakkale, teams of provincial gendarmerie command conducted operations in addresses previously set in Ezine district said a security source on condition of anonymity.

The operation seized 688 liters of bootleg alcohol in bottles bearing various brands, the source added.

Rescue teams find bodies of 2 missing hikers

As the search and rescue efforts continue for a 17th day for two Turkish hikers who went missing in western Turkey, the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) teams on Dec. 18 found two male bodies thought to be the missing hikers.

On Dec. 1, Efe Sarp and Mert Alpaslan went missing in the evening due to heavy fog near Mt. Uludağ peak in Bursa province.
