Turkish gendarmerie commander offers giving medals to commanders who clashed with coup plotters
Turkish Gendarmerie Commander Gen. Yaşar Güler has offered giving medals to commanders who clashed with the plotters of the July 15, 2016, coup attempt on the night of the thwarted coup.
Güler requested the "Outstanding Courage and Waiver Medal" should be given to six commanders who played key roles in quelling the coup attempt, daily Habertürk reported on July 20.
Two decares of forests destroyed by fire in Turkey's Ayvalık
A fire destroyed two decares of forests in the coastal district of Ayvalık in the Marmara province of Balıkesir on June 26, Doğan News Agency has reported.
The fire is believed to have been started accidentally during a picnic, and gendarmerie forces have detained two people in relation to it.

A total of 560 shotguns were seized and three suspects were detained in an operation in the eastern province of Hakkari on April 25, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
Shotguns were seized in a lorry during a search by crews of the provincial directorate of security and the commandership of the district gendarmerie in Hakkari's Şemdinli district.
