Sofia Landmarks Light Up for Autism Awareness Day

Bulgaria's capital Sofia and other citis will mark the World Autism Awareness Day on Saturday, with key buildings lighting up to show support for a worldwide information campaign.

Separately, between 11:00 and 15:00 local time in Sofia, a kids' fair is opened featuring workshops at the Sofia Zoo, with any children attending being allowed to draw the animals.

Bulgaria Might Deploy Troops to Patrol Streets of Sofia

Bulgarian Defence Minister Nikolay Nenchev did not exclude the possibility of deploying servicemen to patrol the streets of the capital.

This was one of the scenarios exercised during the large-scale anti-terror training of the police and army held in Sofia on Tuesday night and the early hours on Wednesday.

The German movie "Zhaleika" directed by Bulgarian Eliza Petkova won the grand prix award for best film in the international competition of the Sofia International Film Festival.

Bulgaria's Sofia to Host World Festival of Animated Film Jan 29-31

The 11th edition of World Festival of Animated Film will be held on January 29-31 in the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Sofia.

On January 19 at 18:30 local time, "Authors-Artists" exhibition marking the 100th anniversary of Bulgarian cinema will usher viewers into the mood of the Festival at NDK Lobby Semi-basement East. 

La Traviata Conducted by Ljubka Biagioni to Debut in Sofia on February 14

Giuseppe Verdi's opera "La Traviata" with conductor Ljubka Biagioni will be performed for the first time in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia on February 14.

The soloists on the stage will be Marta Torbidoni - soprano, Mihail Mihaylov - tenor and Anton Keremedtchiev - baritone.
