Neve Shalom Synagogue

In a series of events, Turkey's Jewish community, which is mostly concentrated in Istanbul, promoted their culture and heritage yesterday as part of the European Days of Jewish Culture.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan harshly slammed the protest on the Neve Shalom synagogue by an ultra-nationalist group on July 22 who threw stones at the synagogue in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district, claiming response to the restrictions on the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.

Many people from Turkey’s Jewish community are leaving the country after increased threats and attacks, a prominent businessman from the community has written in an article for the Istanbul-based Jewish newspaper Şalom.
