At least 10 people were killed and 35 others injured when a man plowed his truck into a crowd of people celebrating the New Year in New Orleans' popular French Quarter, local officials said Wednesday.

At Least Two Deaths Reported As Hurricane Ida Ploughs through New Orleans
More than 1 million homes and businesses in Louisiana and Mississippi, including all of New Orleans, were left without power on Monday, as Ida, one of the most powerful hurricanes ever to hit the US mainland, pushed through on Sunday, AP reported. The damage was so extensive that officials warned it could be weeks before the power grid was repaired.

US: Dozens injured after car plows into New Orleans parade crowd
At least 28 people have been injured, 12 in "critical condition" after a truck crashed into a dense crowd of participants of the Endymion parade in New Orleans, police said. The car's driver has been arrested.
"Initial reports show so far about a dozen people are in critical condition," New Orleans police said in a statement.
