Greece has offered an olive branch to Turkey, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said on July 25.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Monday that Ankara wants to mend relations with Greece and hammer out a package deal that would include the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Speaking ahead of a vote of confidence in Parliament on Monday, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias sought to send a message to Turkey over its increasingly aggressive tactics in the region.

"Greece does not tolerate threats of war," Dendias said. "It's guide is respect for international law," he said.

The results of the two-day visit by Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias to Washington, where he met with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, national security adviser John Bolton and senior officials, have been welcomed in Athens as yet another indication of ever deepening US-Greek relations.

Talks between Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and US National Security Adviser John Bolton focused on boosting the strong ties between the two countries, the latter said on Wednesday.

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said that he asked for a "clean line of communication" between Athens and Washington in the event that "issues" arise with Turkey, during his first meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington on Wednesday. "The Americans noted this (request) and will answer us," he said. 

Greece's Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo discussed issues affecting the Eastern Mediterranean and the continuation of bilateral cooperation in their first meeting in Washington on Wednesday.

Greece's Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias is travelling to Washington DC for the first time since taking office, to meet with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, with whom he will discuss bilateral and regional issues on Wednesday.
Dendias is also scheduled to meet with National Security Adviser John Bolton and Senator Bob Menendez.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said Thursday the government will spare no effort in addressing the problems that resulted from the severe storm that killed seven people and injured dozens in northern Greece.

Archbishop Elpidophoros of America congratulated Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for his electoral victory on Sunday, as well as Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and his Deputy for Diaspora Greeks Antonis Diamataris for their appointments in letters to the three officials.
