Dendias tells Turkey: Greece does not tolerate threats of war

Speaking ahead of a vote of confidence in Parliament on Monday, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias sought to send a message to Turkey over its increasingly aggressive tactics in the region.

"Greece does not tolerate threats of war," Dendias said. "It's guide is respect for international law," he said.

Foreign minister asks for Washington support

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said that he asked for a "clean line of communication" between Athens and Washington in the event that "issues" arise with Turkey, during his first meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington on Wednesday. "The Americans noted this (request) and will answer us," he said.

Greece's Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias is travelling to Washington DC for the first time since taking office, to meet with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, with whom he will discuss bilateral and regional issues on Wednesday.
Dendias is also scheduled to meet with National Security Adviser John Bolton and Senator Bob Menendez.

Archbishop Elpidophoros of America congratulated Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for his electoral victory on Sunday, as well as Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and his Deputy for Diaspora Greeks Antonis Diamataris for their appointments in letters to the three officials.
