A spell of stormy weather will be sweeping into Greece from the west on Tuesday afternoon, bringing downpours, thunder and hail to many parts all through Wednesday.

The region of Central Macedonia will have its own exhibition stand at this month's Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum, which aims to promote its unique historical and cultural heritage and highlight its rich tourism product comprising mythical mountains, legendary archaeological sites, sandy beaches, crystal-clear seas and picturesque lakes and rivers.

The Ilina storm is currently underway and is expected to affect Greece Monday and Tuesday, bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms, accompanied by frequent lightning, hail, and strong winds in some areas.

The weather is likely to worsen on Thursday due to the area of low pressure across the country.

According to the Meteo weather service, heavy rains and storms will initially occur in the Ionian Islands and the western mainland Greece, which will be accompanied by lightning and hail.

There will be local rainfall in other parts of the country.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis presented the government's Eastern Macedonia & Thrace 2030 Development Program in the northern Greek city of Komotini on Friday, the premier's second stop on his day tour of the region after Xanthi.

The weather will worsen over the next hours, today Monday (22-11-2021) and from the west with the main characteristics being heavy rains and thunderstorms, which will be accompanied locally by hail.
