President Joe Biden is in Northern Ireland to participate in marking the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement that brought peace to this part of the United Kingdom after the U.S. helped negotiate an end to decades of sectarian violence that killed thousands.

The European Commission opened two new criminal proceedings against Britain on Wednesday after London announced plans to unilaterally repeal some post-Brexit rules governing trade in Northern Ireland.
Violence Escalates in Belfast, Police Use Water Cannons to Quell Tide
There was further unrest and violence in Belfast on Thursday night as nationalist and loyalist youths clashed at interfaces in the west of the city.
As The Irish Times report, police resorted to using water cannons to try to bring the situation under control.
British PM condemns latest Northern Ireland violence
Britain's prime minister has condemned another night of violence in Northern Ireland, after crowds threw petrol bombs and a bus was set on fire in Belfast.
The violence follows a week of rioting which some have suggested is the first evidence Brexit turbulence may be boiling into unrest in the British province, where post-EU rules are stoking fury among pro-U.K. sections.
New Order in Bulgaria: 10-Day Quarantine for All Arrivals from UK and Northern Ireland
New restrictive measures are introduced to all persons entering the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
With his Order, the Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov imposed a mandatory 10-day quarantine on all persons, including Bulgarian citizens arriving from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The cruellest walls
On April 18, during a riot in Derry, the second city of Northern Ireland, a 29-year-old journalist, Lyra McKee, was shot dead, probably by a paramilitary republican. Her funeral brought together politicians from both sides of the political and religious divide which has caused thousands of violent deaths since 1968. At the front of the congregation were the Irish and British prime ministers.
