Saint Denis Siege: 2 Dead, 7 Arrested on Paris over 'New Major Attack'

Abdelhamid Abaaoud, a Belgian man thought to be the mastermind behind Friday's deadly attacks in Paris, was the target of a police operation in the Saint Denis suburb in northern Paris, police have told AFP.

Reports have now emerged that the group of suspects that had been pinned down in two Saint Denis apartments was about to carry out a second major terror attack.

Paris is in a state of alert after several reports of gunfire made – beginning at around 4.30 a.m. local time and running for more than three hours – during an ongoing operation at St. Denis, north of Paris, and 2km away from the Stade de France where attacks took place on Friday.

German Police Arrests Three Paris Attack Suspects

German police arrested two women and a man in connection with Friday's attacks in Paris, which had claimed the lives of 129 people and left hundreds injured.

The arrests were carried out in the town of Alsdorf, northeast of the city of Aachen, Deutsche Welle reports.

Special units were deployed to conduct the operation, with the arrests occurring at a job centre.

The friendly football match between Belgium and Spain, which was scheduled to take place at the King Baudouin stadium in Brussels on Tuesday evening, was cancelled due to security concerns following the attacks in Paris on Friday.

The attacks at six sites across the French capital claimed the lives of 129 people and left hundreds injured.
