Renault’s Slovenia plant to keep output at 2022 levels

Revoz, the Slovenian subsidiary of the French car maker Renault, expects this year's output to be on a par with last year's. The Novo Mesto plant scaled down production and staff in March of 2022 in response to disruption in supply and the general crisis related to the post-Covid transformation of the automotive industry.

One dead, three wounded in shooting near Novo Mesto

Novo Mesto – One person died and three were wounded in a shooting near Brezje, an informal Roma settlement in Novo Mesto area, on Saturday night. The suspect was arrested this morning, Novo Mesto police said.

The suspect, a 25-year-old man, appears to have shot dead a 22-year-old man from Novo Mesto along the main road between Mirna Peč and Novo Mesto.

Franci Novak wins award for best collection of short stories

Novo Mesto – Author Franci Novak received the award for the best collection of short stories at the Novo Mesto Short festival on Friday evening. He won the accolade for his work Obvoz (Detour).

Published by LUD Literatura last year, Obvoz is a collection imbued with lyrical prose whose author’s voice is distinctive and without any detours, said the jury.

Novo Mesto Bishop Saje reportedly suspected of tax evasion

Ljubljana – The newspaper Delo has reported that Bishop of Novo Mesto Andrej Saje is suspected of tax evasion. On the other hand, Saje has told the STA that he has no knowledge of the criminal complaint that is said to have been filed against him this year, and could not comment on it in detail.

Key segment of Odlazek media empire in hands of bad bank

Ljubljana – The Bank Assets Management Company (BAMC) has become the sole owner of Salomon, a company that forms a key part of a sprawling media empire controlled by Martin Odlazek and his family, after successfully suing to expropriate the only other shareholder, Dolenjski List, another company in the same media empire, Delo reports.

Car maker Revoz shrinking production

Novo Mesto – Revoz is switching from two shifts to one and a half on Monday, 15 November, as car manufacturer Renault’s Slovenian subsidiary scales down production over uncertainties in the car industry resulting from the global crisis in semiconductors. In the coming months, around 350 of the company’s more than 2,400 workers will lose their jobs.

Chip shortage troubles continue for Slovenian vehicle makers

Novo Mesto – Revoz, a car manufacture and assembly plant based in Novo Mesto, is suffering from a shortage of electronic parts for its car models. They assessed that two-fifths of this year’s planned production has been lost so far. Adria Mobil, a Novo Mesto-based company that produces caravans and motorhomes, is facing similar problems.

Andrej Saje ordained as new bishop of Novo Mesto

Mirna Peč – The new bishop of Novo Mesto, Andrej Saje was ordained at a ceremony at the parish church of Mirna Peč on Sunday before he formally takes over from Andrej Glavan next week. Addressing the congregation, Saje noted the great responsibility he is assuming, wishing for fruitful cooperation and dialogue with everyone in the diocese.
