Maribor/Novo Mesto – Maribor police detained a Moldovan man on Monday who was illegally transporting ten Bangladeshi nationals in his vehicle, while his accomplice, believed to be an Afghan national, is still on the run. On the same day, the Novo Mesto police arrested a man and a woman from Georgia that were illegally transporting seven migrants.

Novo Mesto – Carlos Pascual, a Mexican author who has been living in Slovenia for years, has won the Novo Mesto Prize for the best collection of short stories of the year for his work Nezakonita Melanholija (Unlawful Melancholy). The collection plays with the concept of the chronicle genre in an ingenious way, according to critics.

Novo Mesto – The production at Renault-owned assembly plant Revoz, which was suspended this week as a supplier of insulation components had to stop deliveries due to a massive fire, will be relaunched next Wednesday. Components will be delivered from Spain, where Treves managed to transfer a part of its production.

Held under the slogan By People For People, Ana Desetnica - which its organisers dubbed "a travelling legend of many miracles, a diva of streets and squares" - wants visitors to get involved to make the festival a big home party.

This fits with its new Living Room concept which the festival's organisers Ana Monro Theatre have been developing in Ljubljana since 2017.

The ceremony remembering the six-time Olympic medallist and five-time world champion at the emerging velodrome in Novo Mesto will be broadcast live by national television and addressed by President Borut Pahor.

Everybody can enjoy the magical feeling of ice-skating on two special ice-parks for beginners and experience skaters. Sports and entertainment activities on the ice ring will take place and it will be possible to rent skates for a symbolic price.
