Germany's booze-free beer boom

All the fun of the Oktoberfest, without the hangover: Germans are swapping traditional beer for non-alcoholic brews, driven by health concerns and the increasing quality of booze-free options.

Beers containing less than 0.5 percent alcohol - the legal limit to be classed as non-alcoholic - are no longer an uncommon sight in the country's famous beer gardens.

Frankfurt book fair to take place as scheduled

Frankfurt's annual book fair - the world's largest - will take place as scheduled in mid-October, its organizers said on May 27, a sign of some return to normality amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The event usually draws more than 300,000 visitors, and dates back to the 15th century when Johannes Gutenberg
introduced the mass printing of books in nearby Mainz.

World's biggest beer festival Oktoberfest opens in Munich

The drinking has begun as wet weather and enhanced security did not dampen the spirits of beer enthusiasts at the 184th Oktoberfest, which opened in Munich on Sept. 16. 

Six million people from all over the world are expected to visit the world's largest beer festival, which runs until Oct. 3.
