A new large fire, following yesterday’s blaze near the port of Piraeus that destroyed an abandoned building, is raging in the area.

A fully functional replica of a 5th century BC Athenian trireme, the "Olympias," is seen in the Saronic Gulf off the southern coast of Athens during an inspection on Friday of the Hellenic Navy fleet by Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, Defense Minister Evangelos Apostolakis and other senior officials.

The ship, belonging to the Hellenic Navy, was welcomed Thursday by Piraeus Mayor Yiannis Moralis.

Canada's Eldorado Gold Corp said on Monday it would suspend investment at its mines and development projects in Greece due to a delay in permits from the Greek government.

The company said no additional investment will be made into the Olympias and Skouries projects and the Stratoni mine in Greece, and will place them on care and maintenance from Sept. 22.
