Organ theft in Kosovo

Foreign Minister Hashim Thaci said Pristina has nothing to hide from a new war crimes court which will try former Kosovo Liberation Army fighters, but refused to speculate about possible indictees.

Democratic Party of Kosovo leader Hashim Thaci failed to convince MPs from his party who voted against establishing a new special court to try former KLA guerrillas to change their minds.

Hundreds protested in Pristina against the establishment of a new EU-backed special court that is expected to try senior Kosovo Liberation Army figures accused of committing war crimes. 

An EU report into the way its Kosovo mission handled corruption allegations made by one of its prosecutors said the case wasn’t handled properly but there was no cover-up.

BELGRADE - The Association of Families of the Kidnapped and Murdered in Kosovo and Metohija (KiM) said Friday that it will press charges before the domestic and international courts against the persons responsible for the crimes against Serbs and non-Albanians in KiM before and after 1999.

PRISTINA - Kosovo's Prime Minister Isa Mustafa said on Monday that the authorities in Pristina were working of documents needed to create the Special Court.

War crime prosecutors have no will to investigate the Serbian army chief's alleged war crimes in Kosovo, the Belgrade-based Humanitarian Law Centre said.

BELGRADE - The Association of the Families of the Kidnapped and Murdered in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) has said in a release that it fully supports the UN Human Rights Council Advisory Committee's assessment that the UNMIK mission has failed to conduct efficient investigations in cases related to organ trafficking in KiM in 1999 and 2000.

BELGRADE -- An association of families of kidnapped and murdered Serbs in Kosovo has voiced its support for a recent opinion of a UN committee related to human organ trade.

Supporting dialogue "priority for EULEX"

PRIŠTINA -- Supporting the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina will be a priority for EULEX next year, EULEX chief Gabriele Meucci has said.

He also said he was pleased with the fact that the dialogue will resume as early as February.
