Transport Minister Binali Y?ld?r?m has said the third bridge over Bosphorus will likely open in the first half of 2016, either in April or May. 

He noted that there would be four motorway lanes on the Northern Marmara Motorway and one railway line in each direction over the bridge during an Q&A session with a number of deputies at parliament late Dec. 22. 

A total of 16 companies have taken specification documents for a Dec. 23 tender to build a three-story tunnel project in Istanbul that is expected to ease the traffic burden, according to officials.

In line with the project, the winners will undertake deep drilling activities both under land and at sea in the Bosphorus over the next year. 

A tender for the link roads within the scope of the Northern Marmara Highway project, which includes the under-construction third bridge over the Bosphorus, has been postponed yet again, as the interested parties need more time to finalize their proposals, according to an announcement by the General Directorate of Highways.
