An outlawed Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) militant who was allegedly about to attack a security point was killed by police in the eastern province of Tunceli on May 17, the Tunceli Governor's Office said in a statement. 

An investigation has been launched into the helicopter crash in the eastern province of Tunceli that claimed the lives of a judge, seven police officers, a noncommissioned officer and three personnel. 

All 12 people on board a police helicopter that crashed in the eastern province of Tunceli were killed on April 18, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has said. 

Contact with the Sikorsky helicopter was lost at 11:43 a.m., Soylu said during press conference.

"There is no external factor behind the crash of the helicopter. It crashed due to bad weather conditions," he added.

A police helicopter carrying 12 people crashed in the eastern province of Tunceli on April 18, the local governor's office has said, adding that the crash may have been caused by poor weather conditions.

An injured otter, whose species is on the most protected list in Turkey, was found injured in the Munzur National Park in the eastern province of Tunceli on March 16 and taken in for treatment, Doğan News agency has reported.

A local mayor from the Turkish Communist Party (TKP) in eastern Turkey plans to release his municipality's own home-grown "communist honey" onto the market and sell it across Turkey. 

"Those who buy the communist honey will taste good quality honey. They will get a taste of us and will become more communist," Ovacık Mayor Fatih Maçoğlu told Doğan News Agency.
