Ban on overtaking for lorries on A1 motorway enters into force

Ljubljana – A 6am-6pm ban on overtaking for lorries on the A1 motorway between Šentilj and Koper entered into force on Friday. Police controls will be beefed up.

The new regime will be in place for lorries weighing more than 7.5 tonnes. Overtaking will still be allowed for these vehicles during the day in three-lane sections, and on the entire motorway in night time.

Bulgarian Road Agency: Motorist to Be Careful, Rain Turns into Snow

The Road Agency is warning motorists to drive carefully, as Weather Service forecasts rain turning into snowfor overnight and tomorrow in high-mountain regions.

Drivers should make sure their vehicle have right tyres, drive at appropriate speed and with caution, observe the necessary distance and avoid risky overtaking, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) urged.

Police launch crackdown on traffic violations

Some 1,279 drivers committed traffic violations, intensified checks across the country by police found last week in a crackdown on dangerous driving.

Police said that 345 drivers were fined for running a red light and 479 were penalized for illegal overtaking. Another 473 did not have proper insurance coverage for their vehicles.
