Final Four takes place in Berlin with Greek flavor

Basketball's EuroLeague Final Four begins on Friday at the Uber Arena in Berlin with the participation of two Greek powerhouses, Panathinaikos and Olympiakos.

Panathinaikos, guided by Turkish coach Ergin Ataman, will face Turkey's Fenerbahce, before Olympiacos goes head to head with defending champion Real Madrid in a rematch of last season's final.

Greens and Reds both on a 1-1 series score

Both Panathinaikos and Olympiakos are now on a 1-1 score in their Euroleague playoff series, after the Greens defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv on Thursday and the Reds went down at Barcelona on Friday.

At the Olympic Sports Hall in Athens, Panathinaikos bounced back from its four-point loss on Tuesday to win Game 2 with a 95-79 score.

PAO stadium on track

Athens Mayor Haris Doukas said on Friday that the new Panathinaikos stadium in the Votanikos district of Athens is on track and that the goal is to have it delivered by 2026.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Panathinaikos Athletic Club President Panagiotis Malakates, Doukas said the project is gaining momentum.

Greens finish second, Reds to face Barcelona

Panathinaikos and Olympiakos have achieved their objectives at the end of the regular season of the Euroleague, as their home wins this week have taken them to the second and fifth spot of the final standings, respectively.

The Greens defeated lowly Alba Berlin 84-75 and finished second only to holder Real Madrid, with 23 wins and 11 defeats after 34 games.
