Parade

The annual students parade, ahead of the March 25 military parade for Greek Independence Day in Athens, ended shortly after 12 on Thursday.

Many students wearing their blue and white uniforms participated honoring the Greek War of Independence that began on March 25, 1821 and put an end to nearly 400 years of Ottoman rule.

The Pride Parade was held in Belgrade on Sunday for the the second year in a row.

The participants' walk from the government building to the Belgrade City Assembly passed without incident.

The Pride Week is starting in Belgrade on Monday and will last through September 20 when the Pride Parade will be held.

Organizers believe that this year the parade will pass without incidents.

Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali said on Friday he would support the Pride Parade, if it is held in the city.

"I have no confirmation that the Pride Parade will be held, as well as the parade of trans persons. If they are held, I will support both," Mali said, when asked by reporters at the City Hall.

I am not surprised at all because I was expecting it, because this was the tendency.

The president has ordered that this year?s Aug. 30 ceremonies be celebrated in a spectacular way. From what I understand, obeying the command of the chief commander, the general chief of staff began preparations for an official parade of soldiers carrying rifles.

Preparations to mark the 20th anniversary of Operation Storm are in full swing in Croatia.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic will attend a military parade that China will organize in Beijing on September 3, the daily Vecernje Novosti writes.

President Nikolic leaves for Moscow

BELGRADE -- Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic departed for a two-day visit to the Russian Federation on Friday.

He will attend the Victory Day Parade in Moscow on Saturday, organized to celebrate 70 years since victory over fascism in the Second World War.

Chinese soldiers arrive in Moscow ahead of May 9

BEIJING -- Members of the Chinese army's guards of honor have arrived in Moscow, according to the Chinese embassy in Russia, Xinhua is reporting.

They will for the first time take part in the Victory Day military parade in Moscow, scheduled for May 9.
