EODY reports three more deaths from West Nile virus, 30 in total
The National Public Health Organization (EODY) recorded three more deaths from West Nile virus between September 18 and 25, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 30.
All the deceased patients were over 60 years old, with the median age being 81 years.
New cases of goat plague detected in Ilia
Fresh cases of goat plague, also known as Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR), have been detected in the Vartholomio area of Ilia, southern Greece, according to reports on Wednesday.
This marks the second instance of the disease being identified in the area, following an earlier outbreak in a nearby livestock unit in early August.

Greece partially lifts ban for transporting animals after goat plague
Greece said on Friday that it would partially lift a ban on transporting sheep and goats that it imposed last month after goat plague was detected in the country.

Greece has confirmed 22 cases of rinderpest, with 20 cases detected in Thessaly, central Greece, one in Corinth, Peloponnese and one in Attica.
To date, 10,768 animals have been slaughtered, and another 2,000 are expected to be culled soon.

Nationwide ban on livestock movement after PPR outbreaks
In response to new cases of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) detected outside Thessaly in central Greece, authorities have imposed a nationwide ban on the movement of goats and sheep for breeding, fattening and slaughter.
Over the weekend, a fresh outbreak was confirmed at a livestock unit in Mesino, within the Corinthia regional unit.
Rinderpest detected in herd of goats and sheep in Thessaly
A case of ovine rinderpest has been detected in a herd of goats and sheep in Kalabaka, in Thessaly, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food has announced.
National and local disease control officials have been sent to the farm to destroy and bury the contaminated animals, to set up a protection zone around the farm and to conduct epidemiological research.
