Eight rescued as yacht sinks in southeastern Aegean
Eight Polish passengers were rescued after their yacht sank near the Greek islet of Levitha, located between Patmos and Leros in the Dodecanese in the southeastern Aegean.
The group issued a distress signal via 112 as they faced winds of 7 Beaufort. They were later found on a lifeboat and airlifted by a Hellenic Air Force helicopter.
Dendias visits Kalolimnos military outpost as part of two-day tour
Defence Minister Nikos Dendias visited a small island in the eastern Aegean as part of a two-day trip to Kos and Patmos on Wednesday and Thursday.
Dendias visited a military outpost in Kalolimnos, a small island in the Dodecanese chain, lying near Kalymnos, "at the extreme eastern parts of our Homeland," as he said in a tweet on platform X (former Twitter).

Ferry returns to Piraeus over medical emergency
The Dodecanese-bound Blue Star Patmos ferry was forced to return to the port of Piraeus on Tuesday due to a medical emergency concerning a 69-year-old citizen.
The The Blue Star Patmos had embarked from Piraeus and was to make stops at the islands of Patmos, Leipsoi, Leros, Kalymnos, Kos, Symi, and Rhodes.
No details concerning the patient's health have been made available.

Authorities rescue nearly 60 migrants on small boats in Aegean Sea
Greek authorities on Saturday rescued nearly 60 migrants in inflatable dinghies trying to cross from Turkey to the nearby eastern Aegean Sea islands in two separate incidents, the coast guard said.
In recent weeks Greece has seen a rise in such arrivals, mostly in small unseaworthy boats provided by smugglers.

State of emergency declared on Patmos after storm
A state of emergency was declared on Patmos on Thursday in the wake of a violent rainstorm that visited floods and landslides on the southeastern Aegean island on Monday.
Civil Protection General Secretary Vassilis Papageorgiou made the decision in response to a request from the Municipality of Patmos.
