Police presence bolstered in Exarchia after upheaval
There was more upheaval in Exarchia over the weekend, with gangs of self-styled anarchists pelting police officers with firebombs on Sunday night in the latest of a spate of attacks.
A group of around 40 people attacked a riot police unit on Spyrou Trikoupi Street twice on Sunday night following similar raids on Saturday.

Tensions simmered in the downtown Athens district of Exarchia over the weekend with several skirmishes between police and self-styled anarchists in the wake of a crackdown on squats and the Vox cafe, a hangout for members of the Rouvikonas anarchist group.

Self-styled anarchists vandalize chapel in western Athens
A group of self-styled anarchists have vandalized a chapel in the suburb of Sepolia, west of Athens city center.
The vandalism is believed to have taken place late Monday. The assailants broke into the chapel and spray-painted five of the religious icons displayed in the shrine.
Riot police attacked in central Athens, no arrests
Self-styled anarchists lobbed homemade firebombs at a riot police unit stationed near the Athens Polytechnic.
The incident, which took place around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, was followed about half-hour later by an attack on a riot police detachment near the headquarters of socialist PASOK party on Harilaou Trikoupi Street in Exarchia.
There were no reports of arrests or injuries.

Abolition of asylum law afoot
The government is determined to move forward with a plan to abolish the university asylum law as part of a broader push to curb lawlessness, with a bill expected to go before a vote in Parliament by August 8, it was decided on Friday at a cabinet meeting.

2 arrested over paint attack at employers' HQ
Two persons have been placed under arrest and another detained for questioning after an anarchist group vandalized the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises headquarters earlier Sunday.
Members of the self-described "anarchist collective" Rouvikonas threw paint at the building in central Athens and fled. They claimed the attack at a website shortly after.

Rouvikonas warns group will not be intimidated by ND
A member of Rouvikonas (Greek for Rubicon) has warned that the anti-establishment group will not be intimidated by New Democracy's pledges to crack down on anarchist-related violence if the conservatives come to power after elections next month.
Greek Solution leader rules out working with ND
The leader of a newly-formed nationalist party has said he will not support a New Democracy government if the conservatives fail to win absolute majority following general elections expected to take place in early July.
