Disruptive digital attacks, many of which have been traced to Russia-backed groups, have doubled in the European Union in recent months and are also targeting election-related services, according to the EU's top cybersecurity official.

The National Social Security Institute (NSSI) disclosed the rollout of a Single Portal for Electronic Services (SPES). This new portal consolidates various NSSI platforms and web applications aimed at managing administrative tasks related to social benefits, allowances, pensions, and claims, BTA reported.

Greeks want more women and technocrats in politics

Greeks have revised their view regarding technocratic governments, according to a Pew Institute poll of 24 nations for 2023, which found that support for expert cabinet members in Greece climbed by 25% in the last five years.

At the same time, citizens want more women, young people, and religious people in politics, as they have lost faith in the current political leadership.

Sturdy hands at the helm

The societal call for fresh blood in politics is legitimate. Political parties should not operate as sclerotic power systems that only perpetuate themselves. Opportunities for recognition should be extended to individuals with a clean political record.

Tripadvisor-like system to evaluate state services

For the first time, citizens in Greece will be able to rate the quality of services provided by the state through an online evaluation system, according to an Interior Ministry for improving the efficiency of the civil service. 

The platform will resemble Tripadvisor, through which customers evaluate restaurants or hotels based on the services they offer.
