Jazz Evening | Athens | December 29

Singer-songwriter Miranda Verouli and the Bossa Jazz Trio perform songs in five languages, including jazz standards, Brazilian and Latin hits, among others, at the Numismatic Museum Cafe in Athens on Thursday, December 29. The gig is set to start at 9 p.m. Admission is free but there is a minimum one-drink purchase requirement.

José Feliciano to perform in Istanbul

Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and guitar virtuoso José Feliciano will take the stage at Zorlu PSM Center on Nov. 29.

Feliciano gained worldwide success in the 1960s when he covered the famous The Doors hit, "Light My Fire" in 1968, the same year in which he won two Grammy Awards.

Feliciano later combined flamenco, soft rock, pop and Latin to create a unique blend of sound.

Nikolas Anadolis Trio | Athens | October 18 - November 1

The Nikolas Anadolis Trio will be taking the stage at the Half Note Jazz Club in Athens for a series of Tuesday night shows on October 18 and 25 and November 1. The ensemble comprises Nikolas Anadolis at the piano, Costas Constantinou on the double bass and Vassilis Podaras on drums. Performances start at 9.30 p.m. and admission ranges from 10 to 20 euros.

Akbank Sanat hosts Chico Freeman on Jazz Day

Famous US jazz saxophonist Chico Freeman and one of the world's best counter bassists, Heiri Känzig of Switzerland, will share the same stage in Istanbul on April 30, International Jazz Day. 

The duo will perform a repertoire from unforgettable songs from the world of jazz to new numbers on their recent joint album, "The Arrival." 

Turk to represent another country in Eurovision contest

Serhat Hac?pa?al?o?lu will represent San Marino at the Eurovision, as the first Turk representing another country in the history of the competition Serhat Hac?pa?al?o?lu will make his mark as the first Turk to represent another country at the 
Eurovision Song Contest this year, fronting the challenge from mountainous microstate San Marino. 

Columbian singer Shakira turns 39

Columbian singer-dancer Shakira turned 39 years old on Tuesday and celebrated with a makeup-free photo.

She was born in 1977 as Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll and she is the only child of her parents.

In the pretty image posted on her Instagram account, the Colombian beauty poses with no makeup and a big smile.
