Former Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivayio Kalfin stated that Bulgaria has no reason to apologize to the Republic of North Macedonia.

VRANJE - North Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova said on Friday she was extremely pleased with a visit to Serbia and a meeting with President Aleksandar Vucic, noting that the two countries had excellent good-neighbourly relations based on a desire for solidarity.

The prime minister-elect of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, referred anew to his country as "Macedonia" in a social media post on Wednesday. 

The official website of the president of North Macedonia has removed references to the constitutional name of the country from its home page and replaced it with the abbreviation "MK" or simply "Macedonia."

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent a message to North Macedonia from the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises' conference, in Thessaloniki, on Monday.  

The calculated maneuver reminiscent of a "sly politician" undertaken by the new president of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, following the international uproar caused by her decision to shun her country's official name during her inauguration, has left the contentious issue unresolved.

Despite international community reactions, newly elected North Macedonia President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova insists she "has the right to use the name 'Macedonia.'" 

The newly inaugurated President of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, upheld her campaign pledge during the swearing-in ceremony by refraining from using "North" in the country's name. This omission reflects her stance against the 2018 Prespa Treaty with Greece, which altered the country's name to facilitate NATO membership.

The confirmation of the rising trend of the nationalist forces represented by VMRO-DPMNE, through the election of the new president of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, and the anticipated government under the same party, has not taken Athens by surprise which has opted for a wait-and-see attitude.

North Macedonian presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova held a big lead over incumbent Stevo Pendarovski with votes counted from 99.03% of polling stations on Thursday, but both were short of the 50% backing needed to win outright.
