Turkey to become a top auto maker, says Erdoğan

Turkey will become the largest center for production of electric vehicles in the next decade, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said.

Erdoğan said on March 16 at the Ford Otosan Future Vision meeting held at the Presidential Complex that the government was also determined to turn Turkey into a production center for electric vehicle batteries.

One will be built at the popular resort of Marmaris on the Aegean and the other will be built in Ahlat, a lakeside town in eastern Turkey.

Turkish president welcomes Qatari emir in Ankara

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Nov. 26 welcomed Qatar's Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani with an official ceremony in the capital Ankara.

Al Thani arrived in Ankara to attend the sixth meeting of the Turkey-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee.

He was welcomed by a ceremony at the presidential complex, and the two leaders met one-to-one following the event.

Italian FM to visit Ankara

Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio will pay a visit to Turkey on June 17, Turkish Foreign Ministry said.

"During the meetings, bilateral relations between Turkey and Italy and Turkey's EU accession process will be discussed," it said in the statement.

Turning farmlands into concrete is betrayal: Erdoğan

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has vowed to prevent urban projects on farmlands, slamming speculators in the sector.
"If we turn these farmlands into concrete, it will be betrayal to the homeland and to the nation," he said at a meeting with farmers across the nation at the Presidential Complex in capital Ankara on March 6.
