Detention warrant issued for four rights activists previously released in Istanbul

An Istanbul court on July 21 issued a detention warrant for four human rights activists who had previously been released on probation after having been accused of aiding a terror group.

The warrants were issued for Nalan Erkem, Şeyhmus Özbekli, Nejat Taştan and İlknur Üstün following an appeal to their release by the Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office. 

Judge bans teen convicted of rape from premartial sex!

A US judge has ordered a 19-year-old man to refrain from sexual activity until he gets married as part of his sentencing after the teen was convicted of the statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl. The sex ban was laid down by an Idaho judge along with a five to 15-year suspended sentence, on the condition that the convicted man, Cody Duane Scott Herrera, complete a one-year therapy program.

Three Bulgarian Customs Officers Sentenced for Taking Bribes

More than three years after receiving bribes, three customs officers have been sentenced but at first instance only.

The customs officers worked at border cross checkpoint Gueshevo.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, one of them accepted EUR 150 in bribes in order not to carry out customs inspections.

Court frees sexual abuse convict citing Constitutional Court ruling

A court in Istanbul has ordered the release on probation of a sexual offender who was sentenced to 16 years and 10 months imprisonment for assaulting a minor on the grounds that the article concerning the crime has been annulled by Turkey's top court but not yet replaced by a new law.

Bulgarian Nationalist MP Sentenced to Two Years of Probation

Sofia City Court (SGS) sentenced on Wednesday Bulgarian MP from nationalist Ataka party, Desislav Chukolov, to two years of probation.

Chukolov will have to meet with probation officer each week and will have to serve two years of community service. In addition, he will be subject to 25 % deduction from his salary.

Bulgaria Nationalist Leader, MP Sentenced to Probation, Salary Deduction

Nationalist Ataka party's leader Volen Siderov and lawmaker Desislav Chukolov have been sentenced to two years of probation.

Siderov and Chukolov will have their salaries deduced by 25% for two years' time after pleading guilty. They will also have to meet a probation officer twice a week.
