BELGRADE - The Democratic Party (DS) has decided to hold a big rally against the current government in Belgrade on April 25, party leader Bojan Pajtic.

Hundreds of thousands of main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) members flocked to the polling stations on March 29 to vote to elect their candidates for the June 7 parliamentary elections, making the the sole party in putting primaries in place. 

Turkey's main opposition party has said it will appeal to the high court for the annulment of a controversial security package on the grounds that it undermines constitutional rights and freedoms, following parliament's approval of the bill early March 27.

Kemal Dervi?, a former U.N. Development Program chief and well-known economist, has promised to join the Republican People's Party (CHP) and serve as deputy prime minister responsible for economics if the social democrats come to power.

PSD [The Social Democratic Party] is like the phoenix bird, every time there appear some who are impatient to be dancing on its grave, it rebirths out of its own ashes, the chairman of the party, Prime Minister Victor Ponta, on Saturday stated, on the occasion of the party's National Council meeting.

The meeting of the National Council of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) began on Friday at the Parliament Palace, in the presence of the party president, Prime Minister Victor Ponta, and of other members of its leadership; the honorary president of the PSD, Ion Iliescu, former President of Romania, did not attend.

BELGRADE - Leader of the Democratic Party (DS) Bojan Pajtic talked on Friday with Tanja Fajon, vice-chair of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, and voiced concern about infringements of media freedom and a low level of political dialogue.

Kemal K?l?çdaro?lu, chairman of the social democrat opposition party, has opted to run in party primaries before the 2015 parliamentary polls in response to calls from ?zmir as well as to emphasize the meaning of democracy, particularly when it has been losing import in Turkey.

The leader of Turkey's main social democratic party, Kemal K?l?çdaro?lu, has said he has decided to run internal elections in his party before finalizing his candidacy for the upcoming parliamentary elections in order to highlight the meaning of democracy, in a rare move in Turkish politics.

Following the call of the newly elected president of Parliament Ms Zoe Kaostantopoulou to all former Prime Ministers and MPs’ to hand over their private offices within the Parliament premises, the former New Democracy Prime Minister Kostantinos Mitsotakis refused to do so.
