Selakovic: Police reform - imperative for any future gov't

KOPAONIK - Serbia's Outgoing Minister of Justice and Public Administration Nikola Selakovic has said that new authorities will adopt an action plan and measures for strengthening the criminal justice system by autumn.

Opening a conference titled "Criminal Law Reform", Selakovic said at Mt. Kopaonik on Thursday evening that the system comprises prosecutors, judges and police.

Members of Parliament’s ethics and transparency committee have been given a list including dozens of mayors and other high-ranking local authority officials who are accused of having submitted inaccurate declarations regarding their sources of wealth (“pothen esches”), judicial sources revealed over the weekend.

BELGRADE -- Organized Crime Prosecutor Miljko Radisavljević says his office has not received discs allegedly including footage of Darko Šarić's meetings with politicians.

Šarić is suspected of masterminding a drug smuggling operation and heading a crime group, and has been in custody in Belgrade since Tuesday.

BELGRADE – Serbian Prosecutor for Organized Crime Miljko Radisavljevic has said that the Prosecutor's Office has not received discs which allegedly include footage of arrested drug lord Darko Saric's meetings with politicians, and it does not want to deal with any speculation, but rather only with evidence and facts.
