Tradesmen hope to revive quake-hit bazaar in Hatay

The historical Uzun Çarşı (Long Bazaar), one of the symbols of Hatay, has been in silence since the earthquakes on Feb. 6. The bazaar suffered great destruction and most of the workplaces were destroyed in the disaster. Now eight tradesmen opened their workplaces in the bazaar, hoping to return to good old days again.

Hatay’s artifacts moved to Kırşehir Museum

Nearly 400 small artifacts in the Hatay Archaeology Museum, some of which got damaged during the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes in February, were sent to the Kırşehir Museum for protection against aftershocks.

Approximately 150 artifacts, weighing tons, are also preserved in their own places in the museum with a method of on-site preservation.

Nuclear concern

The announcement by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that nuclear fuel will be loaded into the first power unit of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant on April 27 this year should set the alarm bells ringing in the international community and Western allies in particular.

CI Bloom gearing up for second edition

With a focus on the growth of contemporary art in Türkiye, the art fair CI Bloom will organize its second edition at the Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center from May 31 to June 4.

Organized by Contemporary Istanbul, the event aims to be a meeting point for the nonprofit creative industries with an expanded program this year.

Schools gradually reopening in four quake-hit provinces

With efforts ongoing to bring life back to normal following deadly quakes in Türkiye's south, schools are gradually resuming education in 22 districts of Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Adıyaman and Malatya, the severely devastated provinces.

After the Feb. 6 earthquakes, education was suspended in the cities where the devastation occurred.
