Bodrum expected to welcome 1 mln visitors during Eid holiday

Bodrum, the beloved tourist haven for both domestic and international visitors, is poised for a bustling Eid al-Adha period, with the population expected to swell to 1 million.

The coastal city faces a high demand for accommodation as the Eid holiday, which was extended to a nine-day period, coincides with summer vacations.

21 bln minutes of phone calls made during Eid: Minister

The Eid al-Adha holiday not only saw an influx of people rushing to resort towns to beat the heat during the nine-day break away from the hustle and bustle of cities, but communication lines stayed busy as well, with over 21 billion minutes of phone calls made during the holiday, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.

Erdoğan slams Sweden for allowing Quran burning

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has strongly condemned the burning of the Muslim holy book the Quran in Sweden on June 28, further clouding the Nordic nation's chances of quickly joining NATO.

Millions hit roads as 9-day Eid holiday starts

With the beginning of the nine-day Eid al-Adha holiday, millions of people seeking to spend this break outside their cities have hit the roads, causing heavy traffic congestion, especially on routes leading to famous holiday destinations.

Even though the Eid al-Adha will start on June 28 and last for four days, the break was extended to nine days.
